Monday

Today was back at the work week.  My work buddy took today off so it was rather lonely without him.  He will be back tomorrow so it will get better.

My ankle is still rather sore and with my next race just over a month away I am getting desperate for answers.  Wednesday can’t come soon enough.  While G was at football today I dug out my knitting.

I have been working on this sock for over a year now and actually finished it today!  Now I just have to make the matching one lol.  I guess I will start it tomorrow while I am stuck in a boot and not running 😦

Today’s happy/healthy tip is:

GO TO THE THEATER

Seeing a live theater performance is an emotive and uplifting experience.  You become more involved and invested in the story and characters because you are immersed in the action on stage.  The theater is also a great way to escape the stresses of life for an evening and will give you something to look forward to.

The iconic national and international music and theater shows are great, but don’t forget the local scene.  Bars and other small, independent venues offer a fantastic way to discover new talent and tickets are often much cheaper.  You can also feel good about attending local performances because they allow you to contribute to your community’s art scene in a more direct manner.

Aside from school field trips I have only attended one play in my life and that was when K was in the school play last year.  He loved being in Spamalot and if he keeps his grades up he can audition for this years play as well.  I am going to look into plays in my area and try to see one.

August 10th training run

Today I registered K for Cross Country running.  He has been pestering me to do it for a few days now so I finally did it.  He ran 5 miles today to celebrate getting signed up.

G and I just did our normal 5k.  We separated for our run and made up our own intervals as we went along.  I finished my 3.15 miles in 30:47.  G finished in well…he forgot to stop his timer so we will never know.

With football cancelled today due to the rain we made it to Gopher to Badger packet pick up.

This is one of the better race packets that I have gotten.  It included a shirt, bib, timing chip that you keep as a souvineer, socks, and vitamin samples.  The race is on Saturday and G and I are ready to go.

May 28th training run

We got home from our weekend trip this afternoon and what’s the first thing I did?

Yup that’s right got a water and used the bathroom but after that I changed and went for my run.

It started out bad because I forgot my headphones but I went anyway.  I got 3.15 miles in 31:26.  I hydrated properly so I actually managed to run the whole thing.

It was so worth it.  Tomorrow I hope to get out earlier before the day gets way too hot to be able to get a good run in.

So I have a question for everyone.

Does this happen to anyone else?  I now have 300 ish miles on these shoes but the holes happened at 200 ish miles.  It sucks that this happened to my favorite shoes before they are worn out due to miles.

May 17th training run

Today was kinda sucky and rainy but G and I made it out for our run anyway.  Less than 1/4 mile into our run we both stepped in a large puddle and got to run over 2 miles with wet shoes.

So today was week 5 day 3 of couch to 10K training.  It was a 20 minute run with 5 minute walks before and after.  We made it 2.78 miles in that 30:11 wet shoes and all lol.

We even had an obstacle during our run that we passed 3 times.

Yup you see that right that is a tree down across the entire path that we had to climb over.

April 4th training run

Today after work G and I headed out for our next training run.  It is 60°F out so it was our first run in shorts and I just had to try out my new socks that I picked up at Wal-Mart over the weekend.

They worked better than my standard Hanes so I am super happy with them.

I would say that G and I had a good run but at 1/4 mile in G stepped funny and hurt his ankle so he walked and I continued on without him.  I went 3.15 miles in 30:17 so better than yesterday but still not my best of 28:26. I will get back to my best someday soon I hope.
