June 26th training run

Today was another 5K day and as soon as we started I just wasn’t feeling it.  We went a different route than we normally do but I think that it was just me not the route.

We made good time.  K and I ran 3.15 miles in 29:36.  I am content with the pace just not how I felt.

Tomorrow is another day to have a better run.  I am not going to let a crappy run get the best of me I am better than that.

June 25th training run

K and I did week 11 day 3 of the couch to 10K training today.  We completed 6.29 miles in 1:04:17.  

G stayed home with his sore knee and worked on cleaning his room.

It is the local festival weekend in town this weekend and as part of that there is tons of things going on in town.  The parade was Friday evening but today was a kite flying for the kids.

The city provided the kites for free which was awesome.  G got a Transformers Bumblebee kite.

Z got a Hello Kitty kite which dad had to help her fly.  There was other stuff going on but with getting ready for vacation next weekend we didn’t participate.

June 24th training run

G rode his bike on the run again today.  K ran with me and made a little extra effort.  We ran 3.25 miles in 30:19.

It was a little chilly today and I think that’s why we did better than we had been lately.

After our run G came across the sign ups for a kids parade starting in 15 minutes so he signed up to participate.

The theme was breakfast cereal so I told him with his runner shirt on he is totally Wheaties.

Tomorrow is week 11 day 3 of the couch to 10K training program.  I K and I made the last one with minimal problems so we figure we got this one in the bag.

June 23rd training run

Couch to 10K week 11 day 2 today.  On the up side no rain and it was only 72°F out today.

G’s knee is still bothering him so he rode his bike on our run again today.

K and I both made it all the way.  We ran 6.19 miles in 1:04:17.  We are both a little disappointed to have been so close to the 10k when we stopped.  

Tomorrow is our 5K day and G plans to walk not ride and K plans to make the whole run this time.  We will have to wait until tomorrow to see if they are successful.

June 22nd training run

It has rained on and off all day today.  I work most of my day outside so I was soaking wet even before we went for our run.

G’s knee is still bothering him so he rode his bike while K and I enjoyed our run in the rain.

We just went for the 5k so we always go that little extra anyway 3.15 miles and we did it in 30:27.  This is the first time in a long time that I ran the 5k in more than 30 minutes.

So what did we do after our wet run?  We went to the pool to get even wetter lol.  I would post pics of that but I don’t bring my phone into the pool area.

Tomorrow is week 11 day 2 of the couch to 10K I hope that I can make it again.

June 21st training run

Today we set out to do week 11 day 1 of the couch to 10K app.  It was a little warm but not terrible.

This run was a 5 minute warm up walk, then run for 17 minutes walk for 1 minute, and end with a 5 minute cool down walk.

G quit 0.18 miles into the warm up walk because his knee was bothering him.  Tomorrow he won’t run either so it can heal.

K quit 5 minutes into the second run.  He did keep walking and I paper him twice.  Ok I passed him the second time with under a minute left of the third run and he decided to join me again.

I made the whole thing!  I ended up with 6.27 miles in 1:04:17 so not a bad pace considering 13 minutes of that was walking.

The boys didn’t want to do the selfie thing because they felt like they had bad runs.  So I took an after shower selfie lol.

June 20th training run

I had to work 2 hours early today because of taking a long lunch to take K to his doctors appointment.

So when we made it on our run I started out exhausted and it just went down hill from there.G quit early so it was mostly just my will power pushing me along.  

I did make it my 3.15 miles in 31:02.  I haunt run a 5k in over 30 minutes in 6 months.  I am disappointed in my self but tomorrow is another day to do better.

After our run G and I walked and talked about everyone having bad run days and we are not going to let one bad run get the best of us.

June 19th training run

G is back home from his dad’s house so what did we do? We went for our daily run.  Today was week 10 day 3 of the couch to 10K program.  We bested ourselves with 5.58 miles in 58:16.

After today we are both looking forward to 5K day tomorrow.  I just hope that I can make it lol.

My first 10k race is in 33 days and I am starting to get super nervous.  As of right now I am not ready but I hope to be soon.

June 18th training run

It was a little chilly this morning so I wore long sleeves on my run.  Yup that didn’t last long lol.  I made my first run in the new shoes and it felt awesome.

I quit at 3.15 miles but, I felt like I could run forever.  I only quit because I wanted to get home to help Z make breakfast for her dad.  I ran that 3.15 miles in 29:45.

This evening Z and I went for a walk so I could make my step goal while dad took a nap.  We even traded a few books while we were out.

I am super excited to have the boys home tomorrow so we can get back to running together.

June 17th training run

Today I ran alone.  I repeated week 10 day 2 of the couch to 10K training to see if I could do better.  

I did!  I went 5.56 miles in 58:17 and 13 minutes of that was walking.  Ok so it was much cooler out today but still I did better.

It was 15°F cooler than it has been when we were running after I got off of work.  It might have something to do with the fact that I had walked less than 1000 steps when I headed out as well lol.

Today also marked the end for my shoes.

Today’s run pushed these shoes to 403 miles so it was time to retire them to the garbage can.  On the up side I bought new ones a few weeks ago and I have been itching to take them for a spin.

Tomorrow I will get to put the first miles on these bad boys and boy am I excited to do so.  They are the same as the ones I just replaced but in a different color.
